Senior Structural & Modular Design Engineer – Data Centers
This senior-level role is pivotal in leading the structural and modular design of hyperscale and enterprise data center facilities. The engineer will drive concept development through construction documentation, integrating prefabricated modular systems with site-built structural solutions. This position requires deep expertise in steel design, BIM-driven workflows, and cross-disciplinary coordination on fast-track, high-availability projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Must have experience in Steel projects/Steel Bridges/Steel Construction/Reinforcement-T section/ I section.
- Serve as the structural lead engineer with experience in modular steel construction and prefabricated light gauge steel buildings.
- Develop structural systems for new data center builds and campus expansions.
- Evaluate steel, concrete, and hybrid framing options against program requirements.
- Lead design charrettes and structural feasibility studies at early project phases.
- Perform gravity, lateral, and seismic analysis per ASCE 7, IBC, and ACI/AISC standards.
- Size and detail structural members, connections, and foundation systems.
- Coordinate with geotechnical reports to develop foundation design strategies.
- Design structural interfaces for prefabricated modular units (PMM, skid-mounted MEP).
- Coordinate module sequencing, transport loads, and lifting/rigging requirements.
- Collaborate with modular vendors to validate structural adequacy and tolerance.
- Author and manage structural Revit models to LOD 350/400 standards.
- Lead clash detection and coordination workflows in Navisworks or similar.
- Support digital twin integration and asset data deliverable requirements.
- Produce stamped construction documents, specifications, and calculation packages.
- Respond to RFIs and support contractor submittals through construction administration.
- Ensure deliverables comply with owner standards and AHJ requirements.
Requirements
- B.S. in Structural or Civil Engineering; M.S. preferred.
- P.E. license required (multi-state registration a plus).
- 10–13 years of experience in structural design, with at least 4 years on data center or mission-critical projects.
- Proficiency in ETABS, RAM Structural System, or SAP2000.
- Advanced Revit/BIM authoring skills and experience with ISO 19650 workflows.
- Strong working knowledge of AISC, ACI, ASCE 7, and IBC codes.
